Versant is seeking a motivated engineer to work in the Java Binding Group, within the Research and Development organization, as a Senior Unix/C/C++ Software Engineer.

The person will play a key role in designing and implementing a transparent Java binding to Versant ODBMS as specified in the ODMG Standard.

Versant markets an OODBMS product with C, C++, Smalltalk and Java interfaces, together with an evolving range of tools which enable the development of object-oriented applications on a wide variety of hardware platforms.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

The nature of our business favors development engineers who have experience in software development, are self starters, and are able to work independently.

This position requires:

• Knowledge of the Object Oriented Paradigm
• The ability to write Java or C++ or Smalltalk code
• Some compiler/code generator experience
• Strong Unix and C skills
• Database experience preferred but not required
